National Foster Care Month Kicks-Off With Distribution of Laptops to Foster Youth

SACRAMENTO, CA – May 07, 2018 – As National Foster Care Month kicks-off, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC), National Homebuyers Fund, Inc. (NHF), and iFoster have initiated the distribution of more than 1,100 laptop computers to all eligible foster youth and former foster youth aged 16-21 within RCRC’s 35-member counties.

Late last year, RCRC and NHF’s Boards of Directors approved providing $200,000 each to support the 1 Laptop Program for Foster Youth. Through this $400,000 total contribution, eligible foster youth and former foster youth in care within RCRC’s 35 counties will be provided a laptop, complete with the iFoster Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Assistant, which includes a HIPAA compliant secure online digital locker, accessible anywhere, anytime. The laptop is fully integrated into iFoster’s resource portal and programs, providing access to more than 500 needed resources and improved youth support networks.

NHF CONTRIBUTES $200,000 TO PROVIDE AN IFOSTER LAPTOP COMPUTER TO FOSTER YOUTH

SACRAMENTO, CA – January 29, 2018 – Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) and National Homebuyers Fund, Inc. (NHF) have joined forces to contribute $400,000 to provide an iFoster laptop computer to all eligible foster youth and former foster youth aged 16-21 within RCRC’s 35 member counties.

RCRC and NHF’s Boards of Directors each approved providing $200,000 each to support the 1 Laptop Program for Foster Youth. Through this one-time contribution, more than 1,100 eligible foster youth and former foster youth in care will receive laptops within RCRC’s 35 member counties.

The Dealynne Street Project to renovate a 12-unit apartment building in Sacramento continues to move towards final completion. Last week, four previously homeless veterans and their families joyfully moved into new apartments just in time for the holidays.

"California schools learn about modern slavery"

CNN’s Freedom Project series on “Modern-Day Slavery,” more commonly known as human trafficking, recently visited Humboldt County, and ran a story on human trafficking in California’s rural counties, highlighting the PROTECT Program, rolling out to 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grade students in California.

National Homebuyers Fund, Inc. and Rural County Representatives of California are the sole funders of the awareness and education effort.
